So many of you are wondering how you can get your schedule, hopefully this how-to can clear things up for you guys.
1. Go to Sakai
2. Click on the course membership tool
3. In the same area the following should appear, just go to the drop down box and click Fall 2011 in order to select your term.
4. You should now be able to see a list of some of your classes. Just a reminder, all your classes may not be here. Not all the professors use Sakai, so only the classes that will be using Sakai for the semester will be present. Also, I selected Spring 2011 instead of Fall 2011 so don’t get confused by the “SP 11”
You should see something like this:
You need to take 3 bits of information from this part for the next step. In my example I 920 is the Sociology department, 210 is the course code which will tell me that this is my Sociology of Medicine & Health Care class, and 01 is my section number, which tells me which particular class I am in. Usually there is more than 1 section for a class so this is very important when you are trying to make a schedule with a friend.
5. Go to the Course Schedule Planner and login. Under the Build Schedules section click Fall 2011 to start working on what your possible schedule may look like.
6. You will see this window below and some instructions on how to build your schedule. But we’ll walk you through it until the end.
7. Now take the Subject area from the information you looked up earlier and find the department in the drop down menu.
8. Hit the Search button and look for your class with the Course ID you found earlier. Again, I am using the Sociology department as my example, and my course ID was 210. Just click the arrow next to the “Plus” button to see the different sections. My section number was Section 01, the only one available, so once you find it just hit the “Plus” button to add it to your schedule!
As you can see, you can see the times the class is available, as well as the professor teaching the class and the campus.
CAC = College Ave
D/C = Cook/Douglass
BUS = Busch
LIV = Livingston
9. Once you start adding all your classes you will find all your different options for what your schedule could be like. Click Next if you have other possibilities.
Now you should be all done!
10. Let us know in the comments if this worked out for you!
I want to remind everyone that this is not the final product of your schedule, it is just so you have an idea of what you’re looking at. If there is a class that you don’t think you want to take, then wait until the add/drop period after September 1st to change your schedule around. Again, many professors don’t use Sakai for their class so there’s a good chance your class will not show using this tutorial!
Hope this helps,
Zion
